Each individual’s risk assessment starts with a genetics evaluation performed by a clinical geneticist. The assessment includes a review of the individual’s medical and cancer history and the family’s medical and cancer history. A physical exam may also be performed if necessary. The geneticist will then estimate the individual’s risk for developing cancer.
Appropriate Genetic Testing is offered based on personal and family history of cancer. The result is used to provide a lifetime cancer risk for the individual and the risk the individual passing down the genetic mutation to their children.
All individuals also receive counseling that emphasizes cancer prevention and early detection.
