September 21, 2019 : New Moms Circle Support Group
Mothers of infants and toddlers (ages 0-24 months) are invited to attend our New Moms Circle Support Group on Saturday, September 21st from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Prenatal Center, 258 High Street in Nyack. The group discussion will focus on “Nyack Basics: Maximize Love, Manage Stress” featuring guest speaker, Beth Mintz Friedberg, LCSW. Participation is free of charge. Pre-registration is requested. September 27, 2019 : Fall Prevention Awareness Day
The Departments of Trauma and Paramedicine present a Falls Prevention Program open to the public on Friday, September 27th from 10:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria Conference Room at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Healthcare professionals will be on hand to offer: blood pressure screening, medication review, home safety review, education on Diabetes, nutrition, balance and gait and community resources. October 6, 2019 : Blow Away Cancer 5K Run/Walk
Montefiore Nyack Hospital will host the 29th Annual Blow Away Breast Cancer 5K Run-Walk on the grounds and surrounding area of the Hospital. The proceeds from this event support the programs, services and equipment needs of The Breast Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. Online registration available at www.events.org/BABCRun. October 23, 2019 : Diabetes Prevention Program : Are You At Risk for Type 2 Diabetes?
The National Diabetes Program (NDPP) is a proven way to prevent or delay diabetes in people who have prediabetes or are at high risk for Type 2 diabetes. Facilitated by a certified diabetes educator, participants will learn how to set reachable goals to achieve modest weight loss by eating well and being active. Starting Wednesday, October 23rd, classes will meet weekly from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for 16 weeks and then monthly for one year. Space is limited. Registration is required. October 25, 2019 : Free Cancer Screenings
On Friday, October 25, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., The Breast Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital will offer free breast exams, mammography, and if needed, pelvic exams with PAP tests for women ages 40 and over with no insurance or who are underinsured. The screenings are funded by The New York State Department of Health and Montefiore Nyack Hospital. To register for a free breast screening, please call 845-348-8551. Spanish-speaking assistance is available at 845-348-8582. Walk-ins are welcome, but registration is strongly recommended.
