Montefiore Nyack Hospital Pharmacists Earn National Oncology Board Credentials

February 27, 2019: Montefiore Nyack Hospitals Pharmacists, Gloria Porcelli, B. Pharm., BCOP and Adam Skrypack, Pharm. D., BCOP, have both earned the credential of Board Certified Oncology Pharmacists (BCOP). This credential is awarded to pharmacists who have met specific criteria and demonstrated the advanced knowledge and expertise that is necessary to optimize outcomes for patients with cancer. There are only 117 pharmacists in New York State who hold this this nationally recognized certification, and only 2,800 nationwide. To be eligible for this Board, candidates must have a minimum of four years of clinical practice, half of which must have been spent working in an oncology setting. They must pass the Oncology Pharmacy Specialty Certification Examination and recertify the credential every seven years.

“We are extremely proud of Gloria and Adam as this advanced certification clearly identifies their level of expertise in oncologic pharmacy medicine,” said Anthony Matejicka, DO, vice president and chief medical officer at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. “Oncology medicines, especially those used in infusion treatments, are very complex with their own toxicities, dosing and monitoring parameters. Gloria and Adam’s expertise provides our patients with the highest level of professional care.
