September 14, 2017: Montefiore Nyack Hospital has appointed five new members to its Board of Trustees at the annual meeting of the organization. The new members bring a diverse variety of strengths and expertise to the hospital’s operating board.
Raja Amar, President and CEO of Portables Unlimited, Inc. since 1999, serves as a Board member of Rockland Economic Development Corporation Council and T-Mobile’s Retail & Wholesale Council. Mr. Amar was the recipient of Entrepreneur of the Year (2009) from Rockland Economic Development Corporation and recognized with a “40 Under 40” Award (2005).
Merna Binns worked for IBM for 26 years in various positions including marketing, sales and business controls specialist for International Sales Support Services. Ms. Binns worked with the Regional Counsels and Industry Executives from different countries to ensure IBM was in compliance with strict U.S. Government guidelines for Public Sector customers. She is currently retired and volunteers at Health Lifeline Clinic and Soup Angels in Nyack.
Tanya Drake, M.S.N., R.N., worked for Rockland Community College as a Professor and Discipline Clinical Coordinator for 35 years. She was recently conferred by RCC as a Professor Emeritus. Ms. Drake holds several honor and professional recognitions from American Nurses Association, NYS Nurses Association, NYS Assembly Certificate of Merit for Excellence and many others. She is currently retired and volunteers for United Hospice of Rockland and Habitat for Humanity of Rockland.
Jason Fond, M.D., is owner and partner of Northeast Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Director, Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, New York Society of Orthopedic Surgeons, Rockland County Medical Society. Dr. Fond was awarded Physician of the Year by Montefiore Nyack Hospital in 2014 and was recognized by Castle Connolly as a Top Doctor in New York in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Denis Troy is the Assistant Director in Application Development for the County of Rockland since 2006. Mr. Troy served as a member of the Rockland County Legislature in Planning and Public Works, Tax Delinquency and Chairman of the Rockland County Computer Conversion oversight Committee. He has held various positions with the Pearl River Little League, St. Margaret’s CYO Basketball Program, and currently serves on the Orangetown Town Board since 2000.
