July 18, 2016: Montefiore Nyack Hospital, in partnership with the Nyack Art Collective, proudly exhibits artwork by local artists and Nyack residents that showcases the healing power of public art in a health care environment. Original artwork created by members of the Nyack Art Collective is currently on display brightening the walls and hallways of the Hospital. Research suggests patients are positively affected by themes of nature and figurative art which both convey a sense of security and safety. The artwork on exhibit at Montefiore Nyack Hospital features scenic landscapes, inspiring forces of nature and whimsical images of characters drawn from both real life and imagination. These uplifting and creatively diverse pieces of original art are displayed in the Hospital’s lobby, main corridor on the first floor and in The Madlyn Borelli Multiple Sclerosis Center at Montefiore Nyack Hospital.
Conceived by well-known watercolor artist Cass McVety while she was a patient at Montefiore Nyack Hospital, Ms. McVety arranged for local artists in the Nyack, NY area to lend their art to enhance the Hospital’s environment and expand the perception of art as a vital component in healing, stress reduction and positive thinking. “Nyack has always been home to people in the arts because of its charm, location, and history," said Ms. McVety of The Nyack Art Collective. “However, Nyack did not have an active, organized art association to help promote individual artists or Nyack as an arts destination until the formation of the Nyack Art Collective by Founder Tracy Kachtick-Anders several years ago. We are proud to support our community hospital with artwork from community residents.”
The artwork, both original work and prints, is for sale through the Nyack Art Collective.
