Montefiore Nyack Hospital Achieves ‘A’ Rating for Social Responsibility

Nyack, N.Y. July 21, 2023 – Montefiore Nyack Hospital has achieved an “A” rating for social responsibility from the Lown Institute. This recognition is based on an evaluation of 53 metrics which provide a unique and holistic ranking of a hospital’s performance. Grades are calculated by assessing equity, value, and outcomes, including pay equity, community benefits, inclusivity, cost efficiency, clinical results, and patient safety and satisfaction. Montefiore Nyack Hospital is one of 39 hospitals in New York State to receive an ‘A’ out of 138 ranked statewide.

The Lown Institute Hospitals Index measures social responsibility of more than 3,600 hospitals nationwide, evaluating hospitals on more than 50 metrics across equity, value, and outcomes. The Lown Index uses publicly available data from traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage claims, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ hospital cost reports, Internal Revenue Service Form 990, and other sources.

This is the fourth year of the Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility, the only annual ranking to fully integrate racial inclusivity, community investment, and pay equity with traditional outcomes measures.
