Nyack, N.Y. February 11, 2026 – Montefiore Nyack Hospital (MNH) announces the appointment of MNH Board Member, William Shum, to the American Hospital Association (AHA) Committee on Governance (COG). The AHA is a national advocacy organization that represents and serves hospitals, healthcare networks, and the patients and communities they serve. The COG plays a vital role in advising the AHA on advocacy positions, public policy issues, and governance and trusteeship strategies. 

Mr. Shum has served on the Montefiore Nyack Hospital Board of Trustees for over 13 years, beginning his affiliation in 2002 through 2008, and returning in 2019. He has been active on numerous committees, including Finance, Audit and Compliance, Technology, and the Home Care Professional Advisory Committee. He also serves on the Governance Committee of the Healthcare Trustees of New York State.

Now retired, Mr. Shum has spent over 40 years in the financial sector, holding a variety of roles, including 20 years in the US Department of the Treasury. His wealth of knowledge and experience in accounting, large bank regulation, cybersecurity, information systems auditing, and technology leadership have shaped his commitment to integrity and accountability. His successful career is rooted in service, as he served as a Crew Chief in the US Air Force. Outside of the boardroom, Mr. Shum is helping the next generation build strong financial literacy skills at St. Thomas Aquinas College, where he is an adjunct professor in economics and accounting.
